These Terms and Conditions govern your use of DeeLab Academy and apply to all enrolments, course purchases, programme registrations, and certifications. By using our platform or purchasing a course, you agree to these terms.
DeeLab Academy is operated by Tailjay Pte. Ltd., a company registered in Singapore ("we", "us", "our"). Our platform is available at deelabacademy.com.
1. Who can use DeeLab Academy
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and purchase a course. By enrolling, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate and that you are using the platform for lawful purposes.
Corporate clients may enrol trainees on their behalf. The organisation placing the order accepts these terms on behalf of its trainees and is responsible for ensuring trainees are aware of them.
2. Courses, programmes, and what we deliver
DeeLab Academy offers online training courses and multi-course programmes in data annotation and related fields. All courses are fully online unless otherwise stated. Occasionally, on-site or hybrid delivery may be offered for corporate groups — this will be agreed in writing separately.
Each course or programme page describes what is included: number of sessions, topics covered, assessment method, and what certificate is awarded on completion. We will deliver what is described on the course page at the time of purchase. We reserve the right to make reasonable improvements to course content and structure without notice, provided the learning outcomes are preserved.
Certification
A certificate is awarded when you meet the assessment criteria for a course. The assessment criteria are described on each course page. We do not award certificates for participation alone.
DeeLab Academy certifications are issued by Tailjay Pte. Ltd. and represent our own assessment of your competency. They are not issued by, endorsed by, or formally recognised by any external industry body, government authority, or accreditation agency. We are transparent about this. Our certifications reflect current industry practices and we remain open to external auditing as the field matures.
A certificate issued to you is a permanent record and remains valid unless revoked under section 10 of these terms.
Programme certification requirements
DeeLab Academy offers two routes to a programme certificate — for example, the Certified Data Annotator (CDA) designation:
- Programme-package payers. If you purchase a full programme package, your certification path is fixed at the time of purchase. The number of courses you must complete to earn the programme certificate is the requirement that was in force when your payment was confirmed. This remains your personal requirement even if the programme requirement changes later.
- Individual course-by-course takers. If you do not purchase a programme package and instead enrol in individual courses belonging to a programme, you follow the current certification requirement at the time your certification is evaluated. We publish the current requirement prominently on the programme page and on each course page that belongs to the programme.
We reserve the right to update the certification requirement for individual course takers as the programme develops — for example, if new courses are added, industry standards change, or trainee feedback leads to an expansion of the curriculum. Any change will be reflected on the programme page immediately and will take effect for evaluations made after the change date. Certificates already issued are not affected by changes to the requirement.
If you are uncertain which path applies to you, check your purchase confirmation email, or contact us at [email protected].
3. Enrolment and access
Your enrolment in a course is confirmed once full payment is received (or a free enrolment is processed). You will receive a confirmation email with details of how to access the course.
Course access is personal to you. You may not share your login credentials, allow others to complete coursework on your behalf, or enrol under a false identity. Doing so may result in cancellation of your enrolment without refund and revocation of any certificate issued.
Where courses are delivered via a third-party learning management system (such as Moodle), access is subject to that platform being available. We will make reasonable efforts to restore access if technical issues arise.
4. Pricing and payment
All prices are displayed on the course or programme page at the time of purchase. Prices are shown in the currency stated and are exclusive of any taxes unless otherwise noted. We reserve the right to change prices at any time; changes do not apply to confirmed orders already paid.
We accept payment by card (via Stripe), bank transfer, Wise transfer, and other methods we may introduce in future. Corporate clients may request an invoice; invoices are due within 14 days of issue unless otherwise agreed in writing. Enrolment is confirmed only after payment is received in full.
For bank transfer and Wise payments, please use the payment references provided in your invoice or confirmation email. If a payment cannot be matched to an order within 7 days, we will contact you to resolve it.
Our prices are set in Singapore Dollars (SGD), which is the default currency for most customers. In some markets we may display and charge in a local currency; where we do, the local-currency amount is set by us and may include a currency and market adjustment, so it may differ from a direct exchange-rate conversion of the SGD price. Prices may also vary by region, demand, and time, and we run limited-time promotions, which apply only while running and are not applied retroactively.
5. Cancellations and refunds
Self-paced courses (no fixed start date)
You may cancel for a full refund within 14 days of purchase, provided you have not accessed any course content. Once any lesson, module, or assessment has been opened, the course is considered started and no refund is available.
Scheduled courses (fixed start date)
- 14 or more days before the start date: Full refund, minus any payment processing fees (typically 2–4%).
- 7–13 days before the start date: 50% refund.
- Less than 7 days before the start date: No refund. You may request a one-time transfer to a future run of the same course, subject to availability.
- After the course has started: No refund.
What counts as "started"
"Started" means any lesson, module, assessment question, or live session has been accessed or attended — regardless of how much of the course has been completed.
Corporate and group bookings
Organisations booking for three or more trainees may cancel for a full refund up to 28 days before the start date. After that, the standard scheduled-course policy above applies. Name substitutions (swapping one trainee for another) are accepted up to 48 hours before the start date at no charge.
Payment plans
If an instalment payment is missed, access to the course is suspended until the outstanding amount is settled. Eligibility for a refund on amounts already paid is determined by how far through the course you are at the time of suspension, using the thresholds above.
Promotional and discounted purchases
Courses purchased at a promotional or discounted price are non-refundable unless stated otherwise at the point of sale.
Platform failure
If a verified outage on our platform prevents you from accessing your course for 5 or more consecutive days, we will extend your access period by an equivalent number of days. This is our remedy for platform outages; it does not entitle you to a cash refund.
How to cancel or transfer
Email [email protected] with your order reference and reason. You can also use the contact option in your trainee dashboard. We will respond within 2 business days.
Cancellation by us
We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule a course run if the minimum number of participants is not reached, or due to circumstances outside our control. If we cancel a run, you will receive a full refund or the option to transfer to another run at no charge.
Free courses
Free courses carry no refund as no payment is made. Access may be withdrawn at our discretion.
6. Rescheduling and transfers
You can move yourself to another scheduled run of the same course up to twice, free of charge, from your dashboard, subject to availability. Moving to a later run does not extend your completion deadline, which stays pinned to your first run's end date. After two moves, contact us and we'll help where we can.
7. Course participation and expiry
Enrolment reserves your place on a course and gives you access to the training. To keep that place active, you must participate — attend sessions, engage with the material, and progress through the course.
If 60 days pass from the confirmed start of your enrolment without any participation or communication from you, your enrolment will be marked as expired. An expired enrolment cannot be used to sit assessments or receive a certificate.
Before the 60-day period ends, you are welcome to contact us at [email protected] to explain your situation. We will work with you in good faith to agree a revised plan. Once an extension or alternative arrangement is agreed in writing:
- All participation — attending sessions, completing assessments, and all other course activities — must be completed within 60 days of that agreement.
- No further extensions will be granted beyond this second period, except in extraordinary circumstances at our sole discretion.
An expired enrolment is not eligible for a refund. If you would like to re-enrol in a future run of the same course, you may do so at the standard price.
Completion deadlines
Each course must be completed within three (3) months of the end date of your first course run. You may change to another scheduled run of the same course up to two (2) times, but this completion deadline is fixed and does not reset when you change runs.
When you purchase a programme, you have one (1) year from the end date of your first course run in that programme to complete it. We send reminders ahead of any deadline. If a course or programme is not completed within these periods, DeeLab Academy may withdraw your enrolment or remove you as an active participant; any withdrawal can be reviewed on request.
8. Assessment integrity
Our assessments are designed to reflect genuine competency. You agree that:
- All work submitted is your own.
- You will not use AI tools, other people, or external resources in ways that misrepresent your own competency, unless the assessment explicitly permits it.
- You will not share assessment questions, answers, or content with others.
If we have reasonable grounds to believe that assessment integrity has been compromised, we may withhold or revoke a certificate and cancel your enrolment without refund. We will notify you and give you an opportunity to respond before taking this step.
9. Feedback and ratings
We collect feedback from trainees after each course. You may also leave a review on Google or other public platforms.
By submitting feedback to us through our post-course questionnaire or any other channel we operate, you grant us a non-exclusive, perpetual, royalty-free licence to publish, quote, and share that feedback for marketing, product improvement, and testimonial purposes.
When we publish feedback:
- We use your first name and the first letter of your last name — for example, "Maria K." We will not publish your full last name, employer, or any other identifying detail without your explicit permission.
- If you leave a review on Google, we may republish that review using the name exactly as it appears on your Google account.
- We will not alter the meaning of feedback when quoting it. We may lightly edit for length or clarity, or to remove sensitive personal information, without changing what you said.
- You can ask us to remove a published testimonial attributed to you at any time by emailing [email protected]. We will remove it within 14 days.
We also use aggregated and anonymised feedback data — ratings, pass rates, completion rates — to describe our courses publicly and to improve them. This aggregated data is never tied to an individual.
10. Intellectual property
All course materials, content, assessments, videos, documents, templates, and other resources made available through DeeLab Academy are the intellectual property of Tailjay Pte. Ltd. or our content partners, and are protected by copyright.
Your enrolment grants you a personal, non-transferable licence to access and use the course materials for your own learning. You may not:
- Copy, reproduce, or redistribute course materials in any form.
- Share login credentials or course access links with others.
- Use course content to create competing training products.
- Record live sessions without prior written permission.
Your certificate remains your property. You are welcome to display it on LinkedIn, your CV, and other professional platforms. The certificate design and DeeLab Academy branding remain our intellectual property.
11. Certificate revocation
We reserve the right to revoke a certificate in the following circumstances:
- It was obtained by fraud, impersonation, or a breach of our assessment integrity policy (section 8).
- It was issued in error due to a technical fault in our systems.
We will notify you in writing before revoking a certificate and give you at least 14 days to respond. Revocation is a last resort and will not be taken lightly.
12. Limitation of liability
DeeLab Academy training provides knowledge and skills in data annotation and related fields. We do not guarantee employment outcomes, salary increases, or any specific professional result from completing a course or receiving a certificate.
To the fullest extent permitted by Singapore law, Tailjay Pte. Ltd.'s total liability to you in connection with any course, programme, or service shall not exceed the amount you paid for that course or programme.
We are not liable for:
- Loss of income, business opportunities, or contracts.
- Technical issues caused by third-party platforms (Stripe, Moodle, or others).
- Interruptions to internet access or issues with your own device or software.
- Indirect or consequential losses of any kind.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
13. Platform availability and changes
We aim to keep the platform available at all times but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. We may carry out maintenance, updates, or improvements that temporarily affect availability and will give advance notice where reasonably possible.
We reserve the right to add, modify, or discontinue courses, programmes, or features, and to adjust prices for future purchases. If we discontinue a course you have already paid for and not yet completed, we will offer a full refund or a transfer to an equivalent course.
14. Third-party services
DeeLab Academy uses third-party services to operate, including Stripe (payments), Mailchimp (emails), Google (analytics, storage, sign-in, and advertising), and Moodle (course delivery). Your use of these services is also subject to their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the actions, terms, or availability of third-party services.
Advertising
We use Google Ads Customer Match to show course ads to people who have previously enrolled in or enquired about our courses. Your email address is hashed and shared with Google for this purpose. We rely on legitimate interest as our legal basis. You can opt out at any time by visiting Edit Profile → Advertising Preferences in your account, or by emailing [email protected]. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
15. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Singapore. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Singapore.
Before escalating any dispute, please contact us at [email protected] — we will do our best to resolve it fairly and quickly.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify enrolled trainees by email at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Continued use of DeeLab Academy after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
If a change materially reduces your rights in relation to a course you have already purchased, the previous terms continue to apply to that purchase.
